Coming out of Blogger Hiding

It’s been about a year since I’ve blogged here. The reason is that I just don’t have the time. I’ve been writing books, editing my other website, staying at home raising my son, designing jewelry, keeping track of my two precious daughters, loving up my husband, studying for a Ph.D., and spending too much time on twitter, facebook and pinterest. Check me out over at those places if you want weekly or daily updates. With all of that, something had to take a backseat, and I decided it had to be blogging here. However, some major things have happened in my life over the year that I stopped blogging here, and I’ve decided to give an update.

I moved from Florida to Austin, Texas. I really loved Florida. However, since moving to Austin I’ve been able to explore the West by simply driving. We’ve been to New Mexico, the Grand Canyon, and other parts of Arizona so far. We are planning a drive to San Diego as soon as we can make it. Since these trips are drives, they are very very affordable. That makes me happy. Other great things about Austin are their thrift shops. I love them. There is a great river here that I go to look at sometimes. I love their Mexican food, and that about completes my top of mind list of things I like about Austin… Here are some West images.
Another major thing that happened in my life over this time period was that my father became ill and eventually transitioned out of this life. He has a stroke in September and after leaving the hospital an rehabilitation center he went to recuperate with my mother. Now, get this, my mother and father haven’t been together since 1975, but they have remained friends. She willingly took him in as a favor to him and me and cared for him 24 hours a day. I traveled back and forth to New Jersey until he passed on from Lung Cancer. We found out he had lung cancer during his stay with my mom. Right now it’s hard for me to look at anyone smoking a cigarette because I was at my father’s bedside during his last days here and it was hard to watch. Very hard to watch. Despite seeing him suffer and the money I had to spend traveling back and forth, I have to say that I feel especially blessed to spend that time with him. I feel blessed that I wasn’t tied down to a job or a project and could take the time to be with my daddy. The moments we shared over my life and over those last 4 months were priceless and they have forever shaped me into who I am.
During the funeral hoopla, which was just 3 weeks ago, my cousin asked me to design her some earrings. I completed them and put them in the mail yesterday. Here they are:

Today is the day after Whitney Houston has transitioned and I will be posting about her. I so loved her. She was a lioness like me. I forever pulled for her success, but I also recognize that she succeeded in what she was to offer this world. She, like MJ, gave us so much and no one can take that away from her. Look for more from me a little later…still processing it all.
