What I Learned in 2010

Posted by admin on December 30, 2010 in Blog Rockstar Musings

Instead of doing the regular year- in-review deal, I’ve decided to review my lessons learned in my 2010 journey.

  1. I learned that I had a bunch of healing to do. We lost my husband’s father in the beginning of the year, and we didn’t really rest to mourn. We just continued to work during our busy season. Moving to the beach helped us to heal from that, and from other stuff too.Stuff-Story-7102832
  2. I learned that I had a bunch of stuff, and that I never want to go back to that life again. Moving out of a house we lived in for 11 years really forced me to face myself. Every corner of the house had stuff. I sold stuff on ebay, craigslist, and at a huge yard sale, but we still managed to leave a bunch of stuff behind for the new owner to get rid of. Stuff, stuff, stuff, it all made me feel kinda embarrassed. I was quite ashamed of the accumulation of stuff. We went into Sam’s club the other day and contemplated rejoining. However, we got out of there before committing such a foolish act. Not before roaming up and down the aisles fingering and imagining all that stuff in our possession. I’d have to say that I’m truly proud that we’ve decided to let go of all the stuff. Now we use stuff and resell it or give it away immediately after use. Keeping only blocks energy and blessings. I truly believe.
  3. I’ve learned that I’m a great mother and wife, and that I create a lot of joy within my home.IMG_3779
  1. I’ve learned that I have begun settling into what I want to do the rest of my life. I want to raise my children to be the best that they can be. I want to continue to design Jewelry and I want to continue my work with Love Gumbo. I am content with furthering my work in all those areas. well-balanced
  2. I’ve learned that I’ve endured a bunch of stressors in 2007, 2008, 2009, & 2010,  but despite my challenges I have come out a much happier and well-balanced individual.
  3. I’ve learned that there is a formula to growing my hair long. In the past, I’ve just hoped for the best, but now I have a regimen and I’m seeing results. I expect to have long hair, like my two grandmothers in about two years.IMG_0268
  4. I learned that I can live in a place that I love, and that I no longer need to suffer living in a place that just doesn’t fit me.
  5. I’ve learned how to sew again.
  6. I’ve learned that facebook takes up a bunch of time, and it has taken away from my blogging and my blog reading. It’s just an empty headed thing to do, I want to do more purposeful things.
  7. I’ve learned that I’m finally ready to seriously think about going back to school. I think I’m going to get my Ph.D.  I really want to get a metaphysical counseling or metaphysical psychology degree. Just gotta pull the trigger on that.pyrmoonsunladyrb

  • Nice, you’ve been busy, and to think these are only the conscious lessons, those ripe and ready for articulation. I bet there are so many more; tiny ones which built the foundation for your great reveal. I’ve learned a bunch o’ stuff this year too, Brooke. I learned some stuff today alone…heck-I picked up something new from this post. It just keeps getting better. Have a wonderful new series of lesson-filled days. xox
