One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible is Ecclesiastes 3:1 – 8. It’s all about timing. I am always judging the timing, cycles, and seasons of all things. I think it matters. That’s why I love astrology and numerology.
2014 in numerology equals the number 7. 2+0+1+4 = 7. The 7th year is said to be a year of revealing things that we don’t usually see. It’s said to be a year that we should examine ourselves to ask what we’d like to change. I’d say that this year lived up to that for us all collectively.
This year felt like a big reveal. A huge soul-searching year us for as a country.
This year included celebrity couple shocking reveals like, the Nealy’s divorce, the Robin Thicke & Paula Patton split,
and the love child and additional baby’s mother between Gabrielle Union & D-Wade(we should have known, his first wife has been screaming to us what cheater he was, but we just watched magazine covers and smiled).
These shockers were things that were probably right in front of us in previous years, but somehow we missed it.
Solange surprised us in two ways this year. First showed us that she gets a little scrappy, and next she showed us that she has an amazing sense of style and elegance. I mean we missed it. These things we as clear as day, if we had taken a second to focus on her. She’s bee talking slick & looking fly before her ~ 8 days of media explosion this year.
There was a beautiful craze of us all declaring that we were “Happy!” We sang it in churches, in the streets, in the kitchen, we sang it everywhere. We decided early on this year that happiness was our choice.
Once you declare happiness as a country, you have to face your problems. So it began. We spent the year purging, protesting, posting, marching, and exposing. Violence against women and violence against Black men were the most notable reveals. From a serial killer attacking his fellow college students because he was dateless, to America’s favorite being accused
exposed as AGAIN (this happened in the 90’s during the pre-twitter age, and nobody cared). Then sadly, the last 6 months of this year has been peppered with stories of the police killing unarmed people (mostly black men). In response to all the injustice in this country, we decided that we wanted to be more and decided to fight for it, in the streets, and all over the ‘nets, on the ‘books, over the tweets, wherever we tumbled, via the new telegram (Instagram). And of course there was Cosby. This is something that is any of us were looking would have noticed in the 90’s. I saw it back then, but just let it slide. Even still, I don’t know what to do with it all.
So we questioned who wanted to be, and that made us really look at who we are. Frankly, it’s been disturbing. I am hopeful though, 8th years are said to show the fruits of your labor. I expect great things from 2015.
