It’s Been One Year…

Since Michael Jackson left us. I am still a little sad. I used to get really upset when I heard one of his songs on the radio, but I am accepting that he is not here anymore. Last year, I wrote about him fulfilling his purpose on this Earth, and challenged myself and my readers to find and live out our purposes as well. I can truly say that I am pretty proud of what I’ve seen over the last year. Here’s a glance:

The moms of Tea n’ Honey Bread and A Place of Comfort have joined other Moms of Hue in sparking some much needed debate pertaining to issues in our community.

The new Renee after 45lbs. of weight loss!

The new Renee after 45lbs. of weight loss!

Renee at Cutie Booty Cakes has lost about 45 lbs since last year and is fulfilling her purpose of being a fit and fab mom. She will be running a half marathon (13.1 miles) in San Francisco and is looking for your financial support to help fight Leukemia and Lymphoma. Go to her donation page to support her run!

Traci Lee, of Baby Girlz Magazine has teamed up with Barbara to make a wonderful online place for teenage girls to go and discuss issues in their lives.

Jaqueline at 3 Piece Online has gotten her baby girl into a good college, is traveling and is living her dreams.

Oh and let us not forgetFlytie who is starting a youth sewing program.

Lastly, I’ve bee busy keeping my Love’s Gumbo magazine relevant in the lives of women who want to be in and stay in long lasting loving relationships. If you haven’t joined my mailing list, twitter, or my facebook page, I would love it if you would.

I’ve also exited the rat race of Atlanta, Georgia to live in Sunny St. Petersburg Florida. I am living a more peaceful existence.

I hope all of us, not just the ladies I’ve mentioned have taken a lesson from the purpose-driven Michael Jackson to get closer to our dreams!

  • Ahh shucks. Thank you for reminding me that I haven’t been completely stagnant for the last 12 months Brooke, because I’ll tell you, when you are unemployed, and had to leave the home that you’ve been in for the past six years, it can really seem like life is passing you by. Glad to read that life in Florida is peaceful… I always keep you and the other ATL ladies in mind when I am fantaszing about uprooting and getting out of California.

Thank you for being YOU… the one who can forever provide enlightenment.

  • What’s nice about blogging is that it serves as a record of what you have been doing in life. I see you!!! I see your life moving forward. I know I told you that you wouldn’t like Atlanta, but I’m starting to think you might like it a lot. Gotta make it your business to visit to see for yourself.

  • Thank you for taking a minute to recognize the importance of Moms of Hue. I am truly honored! And thank you for reminding us that it only takes a spark to ignite a fire.
