I was on vacay during Cancer Season, so here it is. It’s late, I know. Stay tuned for a new zodiac series starting next month, uh nope. I mean this month.

1) What will I wear?

1) Something that will get an emotional response out of you. I may wear something cultural, so you’ll know I’m deep. I make wear something flashy, so you’ll know that I’m fun. I may wear something white, so you’ll know I’m solemn. Whatever, I put on it is designed for you to know what I’m about.

2) How much will I get paid?

Money is not the issue here. Do you think I’m worth it? That’s the question.

3) What did she mean by that?

She was trying to destroy me. I’ll find a way to destroy her for it.

4) Is he looking at me?

Giggle, giggle, blink, blink of course he was. I’m the most exciting person here.

5) How will it get done?

With flair and panache of course. Did you ever doubt me.

6) Do they need me?

If I can show that I am helping, then I will help. If not, they are up the creek without a paddle.

So to add insult to injury I get an email offering me a book written by a famous Jewelry designer to the stars, Stephanie A. Wells. The book is called The Earring Style Book. Much to my green-eyed chagrin and much to my excitement this book is the bomb! I love it so much that I had to go a back a study the email I received carefully to see if I agreed to giving this book away to one of my readers.  I didn’t!!! Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. I get to keep it. I am totally inspired by this book. Although her style is not my style and probably won’t every be, I feel lots of inspiration leaping off the page.

At least I can thumb through it and dream until the time comes for me to get back at my table. I am thankful for this wonderful book. It has very hip and stylish designs that hip and stylish celebs wear today. I can’t stand books that give you techniques and show you designs of jewelry no one wants to wear. I can see everyday women and hoity-toity women wearing these earrings. That’s what inspires me most about the book. It is completely relevant for a design who considers herself in the know.

If you want to up your jewelry making skills, she provides all the how-tos, etc. However, if you just want to see some beautiful pieces the book will serve as an inspiration as that as well.

Her designs are at Double Happiness Jewelry, if you want to buy anything. Her publishers are throwing a launch party in NYC for the book going to press, and they are having a contest for a lucky New Yorker to attend the party or a lucky un-New Yorker to receive the book and some goodies.

Mr. Mehserle claims he mistakenly thought he was choosing his taser gun to tase Mr. Grant, but shot him with a bullet gun instead. I watched the video, which I won’t link here because if kind of messed me up for weeks. I won’t do that to you. In the video he did looked shocked after what he had done, but it may have been the crowds reaction that jolted him back to reality. It didn’t necessarily have to be that he used the wrong gun. Whatever the the truth is, Mr. Mehserle really needed to have had his wits about him for the job he was doing.

I wish he had some Emerald on him to give him the right state of mind for this job. Sad thing is he not only took the life of a man with a young child, he ruined his own life and career. He himself had a baby born on the day of this brain fart. I also feel that he is responsible the 4 police officers killed 3 months after this incident. I know some may think it’s a stretch, but emotions ran very high during that time in Oakland. In my opinion, the rage the guy felt who killed those police officers was in direct response to the energy that was circulating around. I will say again, this is how I feel. You may not agree and that’s okay.

The verdict is due out very soon, so I am hoping the people of Oakland will have their wits about them, and not become violent if it doesn’t go their way. We know that many times, even with video evidence, verdicts don’t go our way. Lets hold tight to the Emerald to have our wits about us please. Let’s be safe.

Speaking of wits and Police officers, there was another incident that occurred a few days ago that makes me question the wits of the men in Blue. In Tampa Florida, two police officers were killed during a routine traffic stop. However, here’s where it wasn’t so routine. There was a girl driving the car that was stopped for an obstructed license plate. The passenger was the one who was the killer. Why? He was being brought in for writing a bad check in Jacksonville, FL. I have been stopped before with both my husband and myself in the car, but I don’t ever remember them checking both of our licenses. What was that about? Why did they check him? Were they harassing him or checking him out because he was a young black male? Not to say that they deserved to die over it. Absolutely not! I just wonder if they would be alive today if they had just checked the driver, like a normal traffic stop? Having your wits about you many times means just being fair and open-minded. With police officers having your wits about you may mean, shake down or shoot the usual suspects or those you consider public enemy #1.

Continuing in this wits in brain vein, the suspected killer is still on loose!!!! Why? Because the police in Tampa keep looking in the same places over and over again. They are convinced that the community is hiding him, so they have been violating the privacy of citizens to find him to no avail. Come to find out that this dude may have been involved with 3 other killings, plus 2 officers which brings the total to 5 deaths. The chief of police stated that the community at-large is not in danger though. I beg to differ, if a man kills three people in a community that you feel doesn’t matter much, that community is still in danger. It doesn’t matter whether you value the lives that live in that community, the community is in danger. Police chief, you could find the killer if you had your wits about you and looked somewhere else. The longer you feel as if the community he has been victimizing is hiding him, the longer you will go without finding your cop-killer.

Okay folks say it with me, Emerald for gathering our wits about us! Lives are at stake. If you can’t handle a job where lives are in the balance, please don’t take one. You see I just stay over her twisting wire and clay because I know what I can do and what I can’t do.

Someone on Facebook told me that it’s Police Officer Appreciation week. I want to send out a special appreciation and a big hug for officers who have their wits about them. For those who don’t I want to offer some Emerald, so that we don’t lose anymore lives.

1) Depends on how I feel on that particular day, but most days nothing to speak of.

2) How much will I get paid?

Enough to do what I have to do. I’m not obsessed with money or material things, so I don’t need a bunch.

3) What did she mean by that?

She probably was responding to something crafty that I said or did so whatever she meant, I’ll just flash an innocent smile to avoid the consequences.

4) Is he looking at me?

I don’t know what it looks like when he is looking at me because I am too interested in my wonderful thoughts. However if by chance I catch the eye of a he, and he catches my eye, I’ll be forever true. On the good days anyway.

5) How will it get done?

In a creative manner. Or maybe in a conniving manner. Or maybe in sneaky manner. Or maybe in an innocent manner. Depends on the day. No really it all depends on the day.

6) Do they need me?

If they do, I probably won’t remember.

It’s Naomi Campbell at a fashion photo shoot. Her wardrobe stylist was futzing with her outfit, and when she slung her “hair” back it revealed a huge bald spot. This isn’t the first image of Naomi with balding edges. She’s had them for several years. When I googled something pertaining to her hairline, I was met with a barrage of nasty blog posts about her disappearing hairline.

I know this woman has whooped many of ask with cellphones, her fists, and PDAs. However, she did her time for those ass-whippins and she deserves more respect than this. I know she has made some enemies along the way, however Naomi is 40 years old and has been in the Fashion industry since she was about 16 years old. Most of can’t say we’ve been doing anything for that long. She has worn many of weaves, wigs, braids, etc. to present the image that society wants her to present. Presenting that image on a continuous basis means she has had to sacrifice her hairline. It’s a common thing that happens to women of African descent. She has probably not taken the time to let her hair line rest from the constant pulling, tugging, gelling, pressing, relaxing, etc. that has been expected of her over the past 24 years or so.

I too have lost my hair twice. Once with baby number one and just recently with baby number three.


I used Jamaican Black Castor Oil on this last bout, and my hair returned within weeks, however the experience was embarrassing for me and it hurt. Because you know I am vain!

Anyway, I am posting this in support of Naomi Campbell. She has been the ideal image that the fashion, music, and beauty industry asked her to be, while having to sacrifice her true natural beauty.

Please don’t try to embarrass her now that she has been who you’ve wanted her to be.
